Like many people, my career has taken me far from where I grew up. I live and work in Austin, Texas, while my parents have always called the Atlanta area home. Because of the distance, I only get to visit a handful of times each year, and those visits are precious.
But over time, I noticed a pattern.
Instead of spending my visits relaxing with family, celebrating birthdays, or enjoying the holidays, I found myself walking around the house looking for things that needed attention. I'd notice overdue car maintenance, algae beginning to grow on the siding, overflowing gutters, worn weatherstripping, or a handful of other routine maintenance items that had simply gone unnoticed. None of them were major problems on their own, but together they slowly turned every visit into a weekend of catching up on chores instead of making memories.
Then one visit changed everything.
As I was walking around my mom's backyard, I noticed something that immediately caught my attention. Her back porch had begun to shift, and several of the primary support posts were no longer properly anchored to the deck's frame. It wasn't just another maintenance item anymore. I was genuinely concerned that the deck could collapse if left unaddressed.
Thankfully, I knew a trusted handyman who was able to repair it. But as I thought about it afterward, one question kept coming back to me:
What if I hadn't noticed it?
That moment made me realize there had to be a better way.
I wasn't looking for someone to care for my mom—I simply wanted a trusted team that could regularly help care for her home, identify small issues before they became expensive or dangerous problems, and keep me informed, even from more than 1,000 miles away.
When I couldn't find a service that combined routine home maintenance, preventative care, trusted local professionals, and transparent communication for families living far away, I decided to build it myself.
